Tuesday Memos Week 7 Term 1

Long weekend is over and we press on to the next challenge or calendar landmark. For many that is Sports Day. For us in the Senior Unit it’s the final task in Unit of Inquiry task in our Well-being Unit.

UOI Task: Think about your well-being and choose a way you could improve an aspect of it.
Keep the choice simple and realistic as something you could actually do.

Students will create and detail a goal/way to improve their wellbeing. They will need to give a few paragraphs of evidence as to the well-being benefits of the choice. Provide a list of ways the community helps or encourages people in this pursuit/goal/well-being choice. Lastly, they will need to provide a short plan on how they could carry out the goal or well-being choice.

Spelling: Prefix for 10 and others.

Gardening Volunteers: Please, if you are able to help out, even just once, come along and help out. It’s pretty good for ones well-being!

Pride: If you get a chance, it would be good to have a discussion with your child about pride in themselves. This could be about the way they present themselves or about the way they present their work. There seems to be a trend in drawing on themselves and a trend in scribbling work down and handing it up without editing or any neatness.

Whole School Info…

Staff Carpark and Bus Parking area
  • Up to now we have allowed parents to use the staff carpark for drop off and pick up.  However in recent times we have had (what we consider to be) ‘near misses’  as we have two busses that operate out of that area every morning and afternoon. To ensure safety of students boarding on and off the bus, as well as the safety of students coming to and from school, we no longer can allow parents to have access to this area in the morning drop off or afternoon pick up times.  Thanks for your understanding.

Coronavirus
  • Attached to this email is some information regarding the corona virus that you are asked to read and comply with. If you have any questions or concerns please speak to Daryl.

Relay for Life
  • We are seeking interest from school community members who might be interested in participating in the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life on Saturday the 28th March here in Gawler. The school will subsidize entry costs (which are normally $12.50 per participant) but we would need about 10 to make it possible. Our participation would be from 2.00pm(opening ceremony) to 9.00pm (candlelight ceremony) and then our team would be free to leave. If you are interested please email Daryl (darylt@ilsg.sa.edu.au) asap.

iGOSH
  • Each child at iGOSH has a My iGOSH Life Book. This book is for the children to draw, write and add things they make, into a scrap book that will then be something special they take from iGOSH when they finish here. These scrap books will also have “Observations” that staff conduct on your children for you to read and reflect on. These are a great way to share with families the things your child does and how we plan activities based on your child’s needs and interests. On the sign in desk each week,  is a list of children that have observations for parents to read and comment on. So if your child’s name is on the list, please find their scrap book in the bottom draw near the desk, have a read, share it with your child and write a comment. We are excited to share these with you and thank you for your support.
