Monday Memos Week 2 Term 1

Here we go ladies and gentlemen, we are into it. It was wonderful to see so many of you come and see us present during the Parent Info Evening. If you weren’t able to make it and have any questions, please let us know or come in and say hello.

Thank you and congratulations to the students who managed to bring in belongings and artefacts to talk about themselves. The students who presented did a fantastic job. Here are some things to think about:

Seesaw

If you haven’t signed in and explored please come and see us so we can help get you sorted. We already have begun adding learning experiences to the student accounts.

Spelling

We have started spelling this week. We are looking at the prefix ‘uni’ and ‘mono’. We spent a lot of time today setting up the standard and explaining the setup. Students will hopefully complete their spelling by Friday setting themselves up for a spelling test Friday.

Uniform

Wednesday and Thursday - Formal

Volunteer Training

We really appreciate parents and caregivers helping at Immanuel, however people who volunteer in a school need to have

  1. Valuing Safe Communities’ (VSC) training.
This will be held next week Wednesday 10 February 2021 at 2.30pm or at 6.30pm in the Library with Daryl Trigg.
    (Please RSVP by emailing jennyj@ilsg.sa.edu.au)
  2. Working with Children Check (WWCC)
This can be obtained by contacting Jenny in the office. There is no charge if you are volunteering in a school.

More info can be found at https://screening.sa.gov.au/

If you will have an interest to attend an excursion, camp or help in the classroom this year, please ensure you have the above paperwork in place.

Lyndoch Road Crossing Monitors

·         Lyndoch Rd is a busy road for children to cross, so we use our the lolly pop volunteers to help.

·         The year 5 and 6 students will be trained this Thursday by SA Traffic Police Dept.  The students are then teamed up with an adult volunteer on a morning / afternoon roster.

·         We are seeking volunteers (parents, grandparents, local community people) to help with this along with training to support you in this role.

·         Please let the office know if you can help with this important role.

School Uniform Shop Purchases

·         During term 1 please see the office staff for sales assistance and we can help you accordingly.

Second Hand Uniform Shop Stall

·         We need a Volunteer person to help open this stall this year

·         If you’re interested, please let the office staff know

iGOSH

·         Thank you for a wonderful Vac Care. We hope all the children enjoyed the days they attended. There is a parent feedback clipboard at iGOSH, please provide us with some feedback to help with our future planning.

·         We still have a tub of lost property. Please check this if you are missing something

·         Hats are compulsory at iGOSH this term. We do not have spare hats so all the children are required to have their own. This can either be their school hat which they bring to and from school or you may purchase a spare school hat that can then remain at iGOSH for when your child attends. The cost of the hat is $10 and will be charged to your iGOSH account. Please see staff at iGOSH if you would like to do this. You are also welcome to come and take your child’s hat to wash. Some of them are looking a little grubby after our big vac care.

·         If there have been any changes with your child’s dietary needs, please let us know so we can cater for them with our breakfast and snacks

Booking Reminders:

·         Bookings close 2pm each Friday for the week ahead. Any changes after this will need to be emailed to Katrina, changed with staff at iGOSH or a phone call.
