Monday Memos Week 6 Term 3

Welcome back to another week of fun, games and the pursuit of learning. You may hear that we have a new face in the classroom over the next 3 weeks. Mrs Yasmin Harman-Smith is joining us as a pre-service  teacher. We wish her well for her stay with us.

UOI
This week students are carrying out and finishing off a three part assignment on a renewable energy source. The components of the task are to create a Frayer Model Diagram, create a flow chart going from the source to the house and finally making a 3D model of an example that harnesses the energy.

In the past, the model has been a task that some students really go beyond the basics and we love this. Feel free to give a hand in creating the model. We love seeing the ingenuity and creativity in making and creating.

Spelling - List 24
Group 1: ‘gu’ words (guide, extinguish, guarantee)
Group 2: ‘u’ for ‘ue’ (unique, peculiar, unicycle)

  • Children can being in some coins or small notes to purchase a gift for their dad (or special person).   Gifts range from $1 to $5.

Thursday 8 September - Year 2 & 3 students

  • Matinee at 12.30pm & Evening at 6.30pm on both days
  • No cost to attend, however seats must be reserved via www.schoolinterviews.com.au and make a booking using code 3kvar
  • In the first instance there will be restrictions on the number of people / family to attend so we can accommodate everyone in a covid safe manner.  (ie Matinee 2 / family and Evening 3 / family).  We will advise when you can reserve extra seats.
  • Flyer with extra details will be going home early this week.

Students arriving early

  • A reminder that any student who is on-site before 8.30am and not in iGOSH needs to sit on the seats outside of the admin kitchen (old staff room). This is a duty of care matter and ideally students will not be on site prior to 8.30am as we do not ‘staff’ the playground.

Phones

  • No student should be using their personal phone before or after school while on school grounds unless they have sought permission to do so from a staff member. Any student who brings a phone to school must ‘hand it in’ to their teacher at the start of the day, following the process put in place by that class.

Absentees

  • We ask that all absentees be reported via the Absentee Phone Line: 85225740Option 2.
  • Messages and emails can be missed if the staff member you contact is also absent that day

iGOSH

Term 3

  • Bookings can be made for the term via www.carebookings.com.au
  • A reminder that bookings are printed off at 2pm each Friday for the week ahead. So, any bookings made after 2pm need to be emailed, texted or phoned to Katrina. All bookings before Friday 2pm are charged at the permanent rate and those after the Friday 2pm are at the casual rate.
  • We are staffed based on the children who are booked in. So if children “just turn up” this affects our child:staff ratio. It is important that you book your child(ren) in, as there may be times that we won’t be able to take them for either a morning or afternoon session

Opening Hours Reminder:

  • Our service opens at 7am. We cannot take children before this time. If you are here earlier than 7am, we ask you to please wait until it is 7am, the doors are open and staff have set up.

Pupil Free Day

  • Friday 9th September is a Pupil Free Day. We are heading to Salisbury Cinemas to watch a movie.
Bookings are now open online at
www.carebookings.com and will close this Friday 2 September 2pm.

September Vac Care

  • Program will be out next week Monday 5/9 and Bookings will open online Wednesday 7/9 at 10am.

iGOSH Christmas Closure Dates

  • Friday 23 December 2022 to Friday 6 January 2023

Operoo Update

  • We have been updating our parent and collection authority lists, this has been via Operoo. All families should have received an email to ask if they use the service Yes or No. If you answered yes there would have been another email to be filled in with collection authority people, name and phone numbers. Thanks to everyone who have completed these. If you could see to this ASAP, that would be greatly appreciated.

ICAS Testing

This week Mathematics tests will be held.

Circle Time

This week’s theme is “being fair”.

School Sports Teams

  • Students interested in participating in our current school basketball program; or interested in the possibility of being part of a school netball or futsal program (both sports yet to be introduced at Immanuel) for Term 4 please contact Mr Cochrane richiec@ilsg.sa.edu.au
  • Parents interested in coaching a school sports team please also make contact with Mr Cochrane via email.

Covid Update

Covid regulations and requirements in schools for the start of this term have been updated slightly.

Families are requested to:

  • Not enter classrooms
  • Inform us should your child/children test positive
  • Inform us should your child/children be a close contact and RAT test as per SA Health guidelines
  • Not come on site if symptomatic

Testing requirements for classroom outbreaks have changed.  Should a classroom outbreak occur (that is five or more cases in a single class/room in a seven-day period), asymptomatic staff and students should use a rapid antigen test (RAT), and symptomatic staff and students should undertake PCR testing.

Face Masks

  • Face masks in education and care settings are strongly recommended (but not required).
  • Anyone who is a close contact and is aged 12 years and older will need to wear a face mask when they leave the house for seven days following exposure in line with the SA Health close contact guidelines.
