Week 2 Term 2 Monday Memos
Strange times, at school things seem to be almost completely back to normal with attendance and noise level. At home, I'm sure things are far from normality as we still mind our distances, have adjusted work schedules and try to look after each other. Here are the keys for this week:
Spelling:
Word list 11 for both groups
Kitchen Garden:
At this stage the cooking component is still on hold, but gardening on Tuesdays is taking place. Students need to make sure they are appropriately clothed on these cold Tuesday mornings when carrying out gardening tasks. While we would love to see some volunteers to help, we ask that at this stage of Government restrictions and encouragements that you don't attend.
Uniform:
Term 2 has had a cold start. Which is great because hats are not an essential part of the uniform for the next two terms. Unfortunately, some students are taking the same approach with jumpers. It would be great to see students have their jumpers at school. We have had a few days where students have gotten quite wet and cold. While the jumper may not have prevented the wet side of things, it would give students the warmth they desired.

Whole School Info
It is wonderful to have more students returning to school
this week. Today we had a 83% student attendance rate.
- We
continue to ask that parents do not go into classrooms in the
mornings/afternoons and simply drop students and leave / collect students
at the end of the day and head home.
- If
you haven’t yet done so, please remember to download the CovidSafe app
onto your phone if you feel comfortable doing so
- We
will continue to keep you informed of other updates via email and on our
website at http://www.ilsg.sa.edu.au/news-info/corona-virus-information-. Last
week we included some information re Student Wellbeing and Beyond Blue.
- A
reminder that this is a 9 week term, with a 3 week school holiday break

Uniform
- Term
2 is Winter formal uniform style (grey trousers and long sleeve shirt for
boys / white blouse and pinafore or skirt for girls), along with sport
uniform (summer/winter) on designated days.
However for this week students can wear summer (if the
weather is warm).
- To
purchase new uniform – the shop is open Monday mornings and
Friday afternoons. Alternatively if you know what items you
need you can contact the office staff and order and pay over the phone and
we will send home via your child.
- At
this stage the Second Hand Uniform Stall is only open by appointment when
office staff are available.
New choice for Girls formal
uniform
- Our
school council has recently approved an inclusive and alternative winter
uniform item for girls, this being a pair of navy blue slacks.
This style item will be worn with the white shirt and jumper and black
shoes.
- Sizes
6-16 to suit girls from year 2 to year 6
- Stock
should arrive late this week
- Price
is $20
- The
winter pinafore/skirt, white shirt and jumper is still a current
item. The new navy slacks is an optional choice.
iGOSH
- IGOSH
attendance numbers are increasing again now this term.
- Please
remember to book online for the week ahead by 2pm on Friday. If you
book after this time you need to contact katrinap@ilsg.sa.edu.au as
bookings are finalised and attendance pages printed at 2pm each Friday
(therefore your child will not show on their lists). This late
booking is charged at the casual rate, whilst the online early booking is
charged at a regular rate.
- Scrap
Books - staff regularly complete observations on all children who
attend iGOSH. These observations are glued into their “iGOSH Scrap
Books”. We would love to share these with you so you can see what
your child has been doing in iGOSH. Your support and time in looking
at and commenting on these is appreciated.
Valuing Safe Communities
(VSC) - Parent Volunteer Training
- Term
2 scheduled VSC training will not be held this term (at this
stage).
- We
have revised the policy for VSC Training where parents will need to
attend their first VSC training session face to face with the Principal
and then to renew the training every 3 years they can complete this via
the online session. If you need to do this we can send you the
link.
Working with Children Checks are a government requirement to volunteer in a
school.
- All
National Police Checks will not be valid after 30 June 2020.
Therefore there may be many parents in our community who need to update to
the WWCC.
