Week 3 Term 2 Monday Memos
We enjoyed two full classes today and are ecstatic that things are back to normal.
We are excited that Stephanie Alexander Gardening is on tomorrow 9-10 (6E) and 10-11(6S) and Kitchen will start on Wednesday 9-10.30 (6E) and 11.40-1.10 (6S)
Tomorrow at 2.10 - 2.40 (6S) and 2.30- 3.00 (6E) , we are planning to go on a local excursion to the area known as Taikondi,the place where the rivers meet, to delve into a nature observation to support our Christian Studies unit about how Australians express spirituality. Anyone who is interested to join us is welcome to attend. Let us know by emailing your child's teacher.
Whole School Info
We hope all the mums, grandmas and special friends had a
lovely day celebrating Mother’s Day yesterday.
We are
almost back to full onsite classes, today having a 93% student attendance rate.
- We continue to ask that parents
do not go into classrooms in the mornings/afternoons and simply drop
students and leave / collect students at the end of the day and head home.
- If you haven’t yet done so,
please remember to download the CovidSafe app onto your phone if you
feel comfortable doing so

- The Town of Gawler has
implemented a new program called Community Connect, aimed at
providing information and connection to Gawler residents. The new
Community Connect Newsletter is one of the ways that Council is providing
information to community members. You can view the Newsletter here
School
Counselor
- We welcome Rachael Siviour into
the role of school counselor (on Mondays). Rachael is well-known to the
students and we look forward to the positive impact she will have in this
area.
2021 Sibling enrolments
- Just a reminder that if you
have a sibling due to start in 2021 and have not yet submitted their
enrolment form, please contact Jenny in the office to start this
process. We are processing applications for new families to
start 2021 and 2022 so if you know of someone with an interest in our
school, please tell them to contact us.
Subway
Lunches
- Subway Lunch option is
available for Friday lunches. Orders in by Wednesday.
Library
Books
- There is still no borrowing at
the moment. We will review this accordingly.
Rhythm Kids
& Junior Youth
- These 2 group sessions are
still postponed until further notice.
Scholastic
Book Club
- Issue 3 is as a virtual
catalogue via https://www.scholastic.com.au/book-club/book-club-parents/
- You can browse, order and pay
online. Issue 3 orders will close Monday 18 May so that items can be
delivered to the school for distribution in week 5.
Uniform
- Term 2 is Winter formal uniform
style (grey trousers and long sleeve shirt for boys / white blouse and
pinafore or skirt for girls), along with sport uniform (summer/winter) on
designated days.
New
choice for Girls formal uniform
- Our school council has recently
approved an inclusive and alternative winter uniform item for girls, this
being a pair of navy blue slacks. This style item will
be worn with the white shirt and jumper and black shoes.
- Sizes 6-16 to suit girls from
year 2 to year 6
- Stock should arrive any day
now.
- Price is $20
- The winter pinafore/skirt,
white shirt and jumper is still a current item. The new navy slacks
is an optional choice.
iGOSH
- Please remember to book online
for the week ahead by 2pm on Friday. If you book after this time you
need to contact katrinap@ilsg.sa.edu.au as bookings are finalised and
attendance pages printed at 2pm each Friday (therefore your child will not
show on their lists). This late booking is charged at the
casual rate, whilst the online early booking is charged at a regular
rate.
- It is a requirement that we
have a copy of all children that attend iGOSH, their immunisation record.
This can be accessed through your mygov and emailed to katrinap@ilsg.sa.edu.au. There
is an information flier available in iGOSH or on the school website for
how to do this. Your prompt response to this is appreciated.
- There are a lot of outstanding
accounts over the 60 days. Reminder emails will be forwarded this week.
Your prompt payment is very much appreciated.
- A friendly reminder about our
parents “Question of the Month” that is near the front desk. The questions
this month is “ would you like to utilize the Seesaw app to share
information about your child(ren)? Simply pop a pebble in either the yes
or no jar to help us with feedback. This is only or parents not for
children.
- Please continue to read the
observations iGOSH staff conduct on your child(ren) to share with you the
awesome things that happen at iGOSH. If your child’s name is written on
the clipboard on front desk, this means that there is an observation to
read.
- Thank you for your continued
support with waiting at the front desk when signing in / out your
child(ren).
Valuing
Safe Communities (VSC) - Parent Volunteer Training
- Term 2 scheduled VSC training
will not be held this term (at this stage).
- We have revised the
policy for VSC Training where parents will need to attend their first VSC
training session face to face with the Principal and then to renew the
training every 3 years they can complete this via the online session. If
you need to do this we can send you the link.
Working
with Children Checks are
a government requirement to volunteer in a school.
- All National Police Checks will
not be valid after 30 June 2020. Therefore there may be many parents
in our community who need to update to the WWCC. Please contact Jenny who can
initiate the process for you.
LLL
Student Banking Accounts
- The LLL have extended their
start of year promotion enabling all new Children’s Savings Accounts
opened before 3 May will get $25 kick start.
