Monday Memos Week 4 Term 1

Getting into the swing of things now, still looking for some improvements as we always do. here is a few bits and pieces you should know...

Excursion to the Art Gallery

This Thursday is an excursion to the Art Gallery of South Australia. This afternoon you should have received a consent form for this excursion. If you are able to volunteer your time to come on a bus or even drive a group into the city, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Don't forget sports uniform and a packed recess/lunch for this excursion.

Spelling

We are working on List 3 this week. Great to see students translating their lists into the LOTE language they are studying.

Mathletics

Great start by students with a large number of students reaching 1000 points last week. Keep it up.

Whole School Update…

Shrove Tuesday (or Pancake Day) – tomorrow!

  • Tuesday 16 February - students and parents can come join us between 8.00am to 8.45am to have a pancake for brekky.
  • Under the shelter between the staffroom and iGOSH building

VSC Volunteer Training

  • Valuing Safe Communities’ (VSC) training.
This will be held this week Wednesday 17 February 2021 at 6.30pm in the Library (Admin building) with Daryl Trigg.
Apologies we had to cancel this session last week.  RSVP via emailing jennyj@ilsg.sa.edu.au

Worship and Praise

Friday 19 February starting at 9.30am.

  • Miss Sunman’s Year 2 class will be presenting

Parents and friends are welcome to join us, please register to attend via the online booking system www.schoolinterviews.com.au and enter the code 74hxu

School Lane Access

  • Please remember that you cannot drive up School Lane direct from Daly Street.  You need to enter our school carpark off Daly Street and then exit the gate and turn left up school lane.  It is a one way road so please drive with care, and remember the 10km/h speed zone.

Learning Conferences Term 1

·         PLP Student Learning Conferences will be scheduled this week and next week.  Teachers will be in contact soon with these particular parents of students to book a time.

·         Learning Conferences for the remaining students will be scheduled in Term 1 Week 6 & 7.  Stay tuned for the booking process.

Subway Lunches

·         Orders due into the office on a Wednesday by 3.30pm for lunch on a Friday.

·         Please write clearly on the order form the student name and teacher name and place in clear bag or envelope, so we can see the name.

·         As from this week Subway Gawler (Murray Street) will be providing the school lunches.  (Tony at Subway Gawler Green has sold his business after 24 years in Gawler – we thank him for helping our school for the past 4 years).

Lyndoch Road Crossing Monitors

  • Lyndoch Rd is a busy road for children to cross, so we use our lolly pop volunteers to help.
  • We are seeking some more volunteers (parents, grandparents, local community people) to help with this.  Training for the adult volunteers is booked for Monday 22 February at 3:35pm  to 4:05pm.   Please let the office know if you can help with this important role.

iGOSH

·         If you are needing bookings for the week ahead (and book in after 2pm on the Friday before), please email katrinap@ilsg.sa.edu.au  We print the booking sheets at 2pm so bookings made after this will not appear on our printouts. This then makes things confusing when children arrive at iGOSH and are not on the lists.

·         If you are needing iGOSH as a last minute booking you need to book by ringing / or texting 0447 661 555, or emailing katrinap@ilsg.sa.edu.au   We have strict children to staff ratios and staff are rostered based on the weeks bookings. So just arriving at iGOSH in the mornings without a booking could leave us out of our children to staff ratio. So please make sure you are booking your child(ren) in.

·         Just a reminder that we offer a light snack between 4.30pm to 4.45pm each afternoon. We encourage the children to sit and eat their snack before they leave. We would prefer that they are not leaving with their food.  Your help and support with this is appreciated.

Wellbeing and Circle Time

  • This week’s topic is People can help if you talk to them. Get a reality check.
