Monday Memos Week 9 Term 3

Two weeks to go until the next set of holidays. There has been lots of talk about finals in sport in and around the classroom and we would like to congratulate all students who have had success in their chosen sporting fields.

Exhibition

We are getting deeper into the process and are working hard to get ourselves setup for individual/group driven inquiry to begin before the holidays. Currently we have made an extensive list of issues and solutions that impact us and or our community. The next step is to bring that list down to a manageable number and check that they fit with the Transdisciplinary Them: ‘Sharing the Planet’.

Whole School Info 
 
Colour Explosion School Fun Run  
  • The obstacle course fun run will be held Friday 17 September after lunch on the school oval
  • All students will participate in the run, however only students wearing a white t-shirt will be sprayed with colour powder by a staff member.  Therefore all students are encouraged to wear a white t-shirt when they arrive to school with their sports shorts/trackpants
  • Please pack a towel for the ride home (or a change of top if attending iGOSH)
  • Due to covid restrictions this event is for students only (no parent spectators) 
  • The school gates will open at 3.15pm (as this event will be held on the oval)
  • Fundraising is via www.plantadifference.com.au, however there is no obligation to fundraise

Sports Day
  • Friday 24 September (last day of term 3)
Venue:  Gawler Sports and Community Centre 
Time:  9am to 1.30pm (early dismissal) 
  • All families - Please do this before this Tues 14 Sept:  Register your attendance and advise us on your child/rens transport requirements to / from sports day via the online booking system through www.schoolinterviews.com.au and enter the code wzu23.  
  • Parents / caregivers can attend, however there is a capacity limit due to Covid requirements therefore the above registration process is a must.  All those attending above the age of 12 will need to wear masks and follow Covid check-ins and social distancing requirements.  
  • A bus service is available for those students who cannot get dropped to, or be picked up from the venue.  Afternoon school session at school, iGOSH and the normal school bus run (am/pm) will be available for those needing it. 
 
Open Morning
  • Weds 15 Sept at 9.30am (for anyone interested in enrolling at Immanuel) 
 
iGOSH
September / October Vac Care  (Mon 27 Oct to Fri  8 Oct) 
  • Online bookings close 2pm Friday 17 Sept.   To book in after this date you will need to contact Katrina direct and these will be charged at the casual rate.  
  • Accounts from last vac care need to be paid and accounts need to be under $500 to use the service for the holiday period.   
Christmas 2021 Closure
  • iGOSH will be open Thurs 9 Dec to Thurs 23 Dec 2021
  • Closed from 24 Dec to 9 Jan 2022
  • Open Mon 10 Jan Jan through to start of school
 
School Uniform
  • Winter formal uniform is still the policy for this term.  If your child is wearing the incorrect uniform please provide a note to the teacher.  
School Uniform Policy Update 
The following changes have been passed by the School Council Committee:
Boys Formal Winter Uniform 
  • Grey trousers or grey shorts can we worn, however boys wearing formal shorts need to wear the green woolen jumper as well
Extension of Sports Uniform from Fn to Year 3 students 
  • From 2022 all students in F, 1 & 2 will wear the sports uniform 
(ie the formal girls & boys uniform items will not be worn by year 2 students)
  • From 2023 all students in F, 1, 2 & 3 will wear the sports uniform  
(ie the formal girls & boys uniform items will not be worn by year 2 or year 3 students)
The rationale behind this is that the junior primary students need the flexibility that the sports uniform brings, and the upper primary students will benefit from have the contextual variation of formal and sport uniform for various events and formal functions

End of Term 3 – Fri 24 Sept 1.30pm dismissal

Amazing Me – “The Facts of Life” Education Seminar for Parents and Children (Yr 4,5,6) - Weds 20 Oct 6pm, via Zoom, $25 per family – click here and follow the instructions to book.

COVID Requirements

  • We continue to ask that Parents / Caregivers are not on site any more than is necessary
  • Access to classrooms and other school buildings will remain limited to staff, students and essential services 
  • Parents/caregivers when entering the school will need to wear a face mask and check in via the QR code or complete the hard copy sign-in sheet in the office
  • It remains essential that staff, students and others do not come on the school site if they are unwell and that they get tested for COVID-19
  • Parents are asked to pass on these school COVID requirements to other family members and friends who may be collecting your child

Graduation is a week and a half away, so I pose this question to you… what type of graduation parent do you think you’ll be this year? Monday Memos Week 9 Term 4

Here we are, a couple days left. It would be interesting to know how all the students are feeling. I do know that some can’t wait to move on and some don’t want to leave. As always, many are probably feeling a little bit from column A and column B.  Reports Reports to go out tomorrow.  Pizza Lunch Tomorrow Tomorrow, as a gift to the students, Tayla and I have organised a pizza lunch for students. Monday Memos Week 7 Term 4

Creeping closer and closer to the end of the year, but the work doesn’t stop…  Academics   The big ticket item in class right now is responding to the Ted Hughes novel The Iron Man. The Playberry literacy routines will continue through to the end of the year and in maths we are currently playing around with algebra and problem solving.  End of Year Guff As a part of the student graduation, we are after a photo of each child from when they commenced school (Foundation). If your child commenced at a different school, we would love it if you could email us a digital copy so we can add it to the presentation.  For the graduation evening, it is expected that students are wearing formal summer uniform.
