Monday Memos Week 5 Term 4

Welcome to EXHIBITION WEEK. 

This week you should (if all things go to plan) receive an email from the Senior Unit with a web address that will link you through to the online exhibits created by the students. The students have worked pretty hard collating the information and presenting online. For many, this was a first time experience in doing this. Stay tuned.

Spelling

No spelling this week but stay tuned for next week as we try to get back to some normality.

Waranthi (the name of the new learning space/building)

Students have already spent a little bit of time in the new building but this will increase once Exhibition is complete. Students will get the chance to not only embrace the new surroundings, but also share their thoughts and ideas on the space and how it can be used.

Open Day Tours (For new families wanting to enrol)
  • Thurs 11 Nov & Weds 24 Nov at 9.30am.  
  • Taking applications for 2023 and beyond, although still a few places remaining for 2022 in some year levels.  
 
Year 6 Exhibition
  • Wed 10 November (virtual tour – for parents / caregivers of Senior Unit students)
 
Remembrance Day 
  • On Thursday 11/11 we will hold a Remembrance Day service “To Remember Them”
 
Gawler Show 
  • Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 November 2021  
  • We are still looking for a couple of students / adults (particularly Yr 5’s & 6’s) to come and help on our stall for a 2 hour block on the Sunday between 2-4pm and 4-6pm.

Vac Care
  • The Big Dec / Jan Vac Care Program will be out Tuesday 16th November (Week 6)
  • Bookings open Wednesday 17th November 10am
  • Bookings close Tuesday 30th November at 10am (Week 8)
  • Confirmation / Consent forms come home Wednesday 1st Dec (Week 8)
  • Accounts need to be below $200 (being end of year) and last vac care paid 
  • iGOSH will be available from Thurs 9 Dec to Fri 29 Jan 2022 (closed from 24/12/21 to 9/1/22)
 
Reminders
  • Scan the QR code or sign in at the front desk
  • Wear a mask when entering our service
  • Please ring / email extra bookings needed in the week of. We close bookings 2pmthe Friday before, so changes made online after this for that week will not be on our booking sheets.
  • We hope you are enjoying reading your child’s observations. We would love some comments after you have read them. 
  • All children need to apply sunscreen and wear a hat when at iGOSH. We have hat drawers, where the children can leave a spare school hat for when they come to iGOSH. If you would like to purchase a spare hat to leave here ($10 charged to your iGOSH account) please ask staff and they will help you with this.
  • Please do not let your child(ren) write the time or sign the sign sheets on front desk. These are legal documents. 
 
Uniform / Lost Property
  • There are still so many rugby jumpers in the lost property box in the office. Please ensure all hats and jumpers / drink bottles and lunch boxes are clearly named so that misplaced items can be returned.

Christmas in Coming – school family event
  • Friday 3 December 5pm to 8pm on Immanuel School Oval.
  • Jumpy castle, face painting, rock climbing, inflatable obstacle course, food and drinks plus Christmas Carols

End of 2021 Year Arrangements
  • Our last school day for 2021 is Wednesday 8 December
  • The End of Year and Graduation Service will be held that day.  We will advise who can attend as time draws closer.  
  • Celebration Evening for Yr 6’s will be on the Thursday evening 9 December.  More details closer to the time.   
  • iGOSH will start the school holiday program from Thursday 9 December
 
COVID Requirements
The Department for Education has clarified the following: 
  • Parents coming on site are not required to wear a mask outdoors provided that they can physically distance (1.5m).  
  • Masks are still required to be worn by parents indoors (classrooms and office).   The advice remains that parent numbers should be limited onsite.  
  • Masks are optional for all staff (& students) in schools, preschools and children’s centres
  • Please to continue to check in via the QR code or complete the hard copy sign-in sheet in the office

Graduation is a week and a half away, so I pose this question to you… what type of graduation parent do you think you’ll be this year? Monday Memos Week 9 Term 4

Here we are, a couple days left. It would be interesting to know how all the students are feeling. I do know that some can’t wait to move on and some don’t want to leave. As always, many are probably feeling a little bit from column A and column B.  Reports Reports to go out tomorrow.  Pizza Lunch Tomorrow Tomorrow, as a gift to the students, Tayla and I have organised a pizza lunch for students. The evening will commence with the graduation ceremony and will lead into an evening of enjoying each other’s company one last time as a group.  So that things run smoothly, we ask that you arrive on time. Monday Memos Week 7 Term 4

Creeping closer and closer to the end of the year, but the work doesn’t stop…  Academics   The big ticket item in class right now is responding to the Ted Hughes novel The Iron Man. The Playberry literacy routines will continue through to the end of the year and in maths we are currently playing around with algebra and problem solving.  End of Year Guff As a part of the student graduation, we are after a photo of each child from when they commenced school (Foundation). If your child commenced at a different school, we would love it if you could email us a digital copy so we can add it to the presentation.  For the graduation evening, it is expected that students are wearing formal summer uniform.
