Time is flying with just three weeks left to finish off the first quarter. Here are a few bits and pieces we thought you should know…

Spelling - List 7
Group 1: the ‘ai’ sound using ‘ei’ or ‘eigh’. Examples - neighbourhood, weight
Group 2: the long ‘e’ sound using ‘e_e’. Example - gene, scene

Communication 
Please use senior_unit@ilsg.sa.edu.au when emailing Mrs Eckermann and Mr Semmler. This helps make sure that both teachers are aware of the information being shared. This is important if either teacher is unavailable, the other can be aware of the communication. 
This also makes it easier to keep records and manage correspondence.

Performance Appraisal for Professional Development:

A Process for Principals of Lutheran Schools

  • As noted in last Monday’s email a survey is being administered by Lutheran Education SA/NT/WA in regards to a performance appraisal for Daryl.   This survey has now been emailed to randomly picked members of the school community.  If you have received an email, it would be appreciated if you could attend to this before 8 April.  Results are anonymous and will guide plans for the professional development for Daryl.

Faith Lutheran College 

  • Faith College is about to commence their enrolment interview process for students commencing in Year 7 in 2023 and so invite Year 6 families to attend an information evening and tour at Faith on Monday April 11 at 5pm (registrations essential)
  • Please read the flyer below to consider a Lutheran education for your child.

Vacation Care

  • The April Vacation Care Program Program is out and the online bookings through www.carebookings.com.au   
    are filling up fast.   Bookings close Monday 4 April at 10am. 
  • Confirmation and Consent forms will go home Tuesday 5 April.  
  • Accounts need to be below $500 and last Vac Care paid to be eligible to attend. 
  • We have a few excursions planned, however we are running with a “scaled down” program as we just aren’t sure about restrictions and changes that may happen before the holiday period.


Circle Time

  • Theme for this week is “Caring about and supporting others and showing kindness”.

Carers Group

  • The Carers Group help support our families with cards and meals (in good times and bad).  
  • If you have an interest in being a Class Carer in 2022 please let the front office know.   
  • Our coordinators Beth and Leanne will hold a meeting soon to welcome you and show you the routines. 

 

Covid Reminders 

  • If your child contracts Covid 19 you MUST notify the school as soon as you can. If your child is a close contact please notify us too.  
  • It is Ok to notify us via email, but for positive cases we will need to ring parents to gather some specific detail we need to make a school notification report to SA Health.   
  • The key message though is to please let us know as soon as possible so we can pass the information on to other families. 
  • Refer to https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/  for symptom checker plus information on the new isolation rules. 
  • Families are reminded to log all cases with SA Health as they will issue you with a document that says it is OK to re-enter school etc.
  • School based extracurricular activities, if they are outside, are now deemed acceptable. Inside ones too where social distancing and measures can be put in place to minimise transmission.
  • QR code check ins are no longer necessary here at school. 

 

Learning at Home

  • We currently have a number of families who are isolating and students who are unable to attend school.  If your child is in this position ongoing Learning engagements are regularly being posted on See Saw and these are engagements that students on site are doing as well.
  • Additionally,  please see the announcements page on your class Seesaw account for instructions about accessing new home learning engagements, which include daily literacy and numeracy video lessons, from the Department for Education. We believe these lessons from the DfE are of very high quality and we commend them to you. 
  • Please note that if you have a child at home there is no obligation for them to attend to these learning engagements  - they are simply there to support students during these times.
  • Please contact the school if we can support you in any way while students are off site. 

 

Uniform Shop 

·         New Uniform Items:  please come see the office staff for purchases.  Please start thinking about what winter items you may need.  

·         Second Hand Uniform shop is now open on Mondays at 8.45am to 9.30am and Tuesdays 3:10pm -3:40pm

·         Old Logo’d Uniform:  at the end of this term, we will stop selling “Old Logo’d style Uniform”  (eg sports tops, rugby jumpers, jumpers) in our Second Hand Uniform Stall.  We have had our new Logo Uniform for 5 years now so it’s time to refresh.

Graduation is a week and a half away, so I pose this question to you… what type of graduation parent do you think you’ll be this year? Monday Memos Week 9 Term 4

Here we are, a couple days left. It would be interesting to know how all the students are feeling. I do know that some can’t wait to move on and some don’t want to leave. As always, many are probably feeling a little bit from column A and column B.  Reports Reports to go out tomorrow.  Pizza Lunch Tomorrow Tomorrow, as a gift to the students, Tayla and I have organised a pizza lunch for students. We hope they enjoy! Graduation Evening Please see your invite for the details of time. The evening will commence with the graduation ceremony and will lead into an evening of enjoying each other’s company one last time as a group.  So that things run smoothly, we ask that you arrive on time. Monday Memos Week 7 Term 4

Creeping closer and closer to the end of the year, but the work doesn’t stop…  Academics   The big ticket item in class right now is responding to the Ted Hughes novel The Iron Man. The Playberry literacy routines will continue through to the end of the year and in maths we are currently playing around with algebra and problem solving.  End of Year Guff As a part of the student graduation, we are after a photo of each child from when they commenced school (Foundation). If your child commenced at a different school, we would love it if you could email us a digital copy so we can add it to the presentation.  For the graduation evening, it is expected that students are wearing formal summer uniform.
