Monday Memos Week 4 Term 2

During this week we begin with the knowledge we will have a new Prime Minister and that we will be participating in our first Bike Ed sessions. Here is the news we need to share…

Bike Ed

- Begins this Thursday May 26

- Bikes need to be at school by 8:30am Thursday for a bike check so they can be used for the session. (You can drop the bikes off in the lead up days)

- If dropping off on the Thursday, bikes need to be brought to the top Carpark behind the basketball court area. If dropping them off before Thursday, bikes can be brought to the classroom area.

- Sports uniform will be needed to be worn on Thursday instead of Friday while the Bike Ed program takes place.

Whole School Updates

Secondary School

·         We would like to remind families that closing dates for Secondary School applications are fast approaching.

·         If you haven’t made contact it’s our recommendation that you do it ASAP, especially if you have a child in Year 5 (or year 4).   Leaving it to the last minute or missing the closing date can lead to disappointment and frustration as places fill.

Simultaneous Story Time - Wed 25 May

·         Simultaneous Story Time is held annual by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).

·         Every year a picture book written and illustrated by Australians is read simultaneously in libraries, schools & children’s facilities all over the country.

·         The Story is “A Family Tree (by Josh Pyke and Ronojoy Ghosh)

·         The Year 2 classes will go to the Gawler Civic Centre Library for the storytime reading, whilst all other years levels will listen to the story here at 10.30am

Year 6 Bike Ed

·         This Thursday 26/5 the Year 6 students begin the Bike Ed program.

·         This involves a series of lessons run by Bike Ed SA (sponsored by the RAA). Students will learn about bike maintenance through to road rules which will lead to bike riding on our local roads. Please take extra care in and around the school during this time as students may be riding their bikes around the school perimeter.
