Monday memos Week 1 Term 2
Good afternoon everyone,
It’s great to be back and getting ready for term 2. We hope everyone had a relaxing holiday.
Camp
Today we opened up time for students to ask questions that they have about camp. We highlighted the procedures on arriving at school on Saturday and discussed cabin allocation. Please see the separate email sent out tonight for more detailed information about Saturday.
Mathletics
Students are expected to complete 1000 points each week.
Spelling
This weeks words are ending in -eous such as gorgeous, outrageous and simultaneous.
Garden
Garden will be held this Wednesday 9-11am for those volunteers interested to join us.
Kitchen
Thursday will be kitchen from 9.30-11 for the Aubergine group and 12.10 - 1.40 for the Eggplant group. We look forward to Mr. Tiller leading us this week and welcome any helpers who may wish to join us.
Term 2 Week 1 Whole School Update…
Welcome back to Term 2. We hope everyone had a restful break and enjoyed the Anzac Day holiday too.
This is a 9 week term. School will break up on Friday 30 June followed by a 3 week holiday break.
“Dental for Schools” - at Immanuel School in Term 2
· This Thursday and Friday “Dental for Schools” will visit Immanuel and to hold an Oral Health Education workshop for every year level.
· Following this a Dentist from “Dental for Schools will come to consult Immanuel students in Term 2, Week 9 - Weds 28, Thurs 29 & Fri 30 June. An information package will be sent home to parents at the end of this week and if you would like your child to be seen by the dentist, you can complete the consent form and return it to the school to book an appointment time.
· Immanuel is excited to offer this new facility for students and families.
Food Collection Drive - Immanuel P&F and Lutheran Care
· Today we launch a 3 week fundraising campaign called “Fill our Pantry” Food Drive supported by Lutheran Care. We invite Immanuel families to donate food items (canned & packaged), laundry items and toiletry items, which will go to Lutheran Care who help support local families who are going through financial hardship.
· This fundraiser also doubles up as a House Sporting Team event. Families who wish to participate in this fundraiser are asked to label the items with their child’s house team name (eg- Trevu ‘T’ / Clonlea ‘C’/ Martindale ‘M’ / Para Para ‘P’). These items will be collected in classrooms, and a visual display created for each House Sporting Team.
· On Monday 22 May at Assembly our School Captains will present all donations to Lutheran Care and the ‘Best Design’ award will be presented to the winning House Sporting Team.

Scholastic Book Club
· Issue 3 Catalogues were sent home today - orders due in Friday 12 May
Mother’s Day Stall
· Friday 12 May – coordinated by our lovely Class Carers.
(Year 6 students will have an opportunity to purchase something this Friday 5 May before they head off on camp)
· Children can being in some coins or small notes to purchase a gift for their mum (or special person)
Gifts range from $1 to $5.
· Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday 14 May to our mums, grandmas and special people.
iGOSH
Vac Care
· We hope the children enjoyed the days they attended. We were busy and had lots of fun. Please have a look at our Day Book pages on the Parent Board and our photos inside our room.
· We would appreciate if you could answer our fortnightly feedback questions that are on our sign in desk.
· Please have a look at the Lost Property table to see if anything belongs to your child. Any items left at the end of week 2 will be donated to a charity shop.
· Vac care invoices will be emailed out this week.
Term 2
· Bookings are open for the term: www.carebookings.com.au. Use KTQQ3 as the login.
· Bookings close 2pm each Friday for the week ahead. Any bookings needed the week of need to be texted, emailed or phoned to Katrina
· Term 2 is a 9 week term, followed by 3 weeks school holidays in July
Changes
- We are now open at 6.45am. Our closing time is still 6pm.
- Fees have increased, please refer to the website.
- “No Booking” charge is applied if children arrive at iGOSH with no booking.
Electronic Sign In
- All families will receive a letter this week about iGOSH moving to an Electronic Booking System, rather than the written version. Each person signing in and out your child will need their own pin code. These will be included in the letter. Please also check the names listed on your list to make sure we have the correct people. This is a good time to make changes with taking people off or adding others onto your child’s collection authority. We aim to have the electronic sign in ready in week 3.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
· This challenge continues this term and closes on 8 September. Students have to read 12 books (including 4 from the PRC list).
· Students in Years F-3 will do this in their classes, Students in Yr 4-6 can do this at home.
Circle Time
· Circle Time helps promote positive relationships. It aims to give children the tools to interact by listening to each other, sharing emotions, experiences and thoughts and problem solve together.
· The focus this term is: Relationships. We will discuss concepts such as exploring identify and relationships, power in relationships and trusted networks.

Reminders
Uniform Term 2
- Winter formal is to be worn as from this term (Yr 4-6 students).
- There is a 2 week changeover period
- Shoes on formal days should be able to ‘take a shine’ and be a ‘leather look’.
- New Uniform purchases can be made via front office.
- Secondhand Uniform Stall is open Friday afternoons 3pm to 3.30pm.
- Hats are not required during term 2 and 3, unless requested otherwise for a particular event (eg excursion, sports day)

· Friday 5 May at 10.30am W&P will be led by Pastor Anthony.

Coffee B4 Worship & Praise
- Gawler Lutheran Church volunteers are offering “Coffee B4 Worship & Praise” from 9.45am in Taikondi
- We welcome any school parents, kindy parents and friends to join us for this prior to the Worship & Praise
Subway Lunches
· Start again this week. Lunches in on a Wednesday for lunch on a Friday. Forms can be collected from the office, on our website, plus one going home this week.
Crossing Monitors
· The Lyndoch Rd Crossing Monitor roster for Term 2 has been updated. Thank you to our year 5 and 6 students and our volunteers for helping with this important role.
