Monday Memos Week 6 Term 2
Here we are, another week, another chance to add to our learning.
Spelling: the long ‘oo’ sound
Making the long ‘oo’ sound without using a double ‘o’. Examples: improvement, recruit.
If you are looking to help you child with their spelling this week, please check over their syllables and phonemes. Also, encourage students to improve sentences to give greater meaning and to not repeat the same sentence starters.
Uniform
Improved jumper appearances over the week, thank you for support. On uniform matters, we are still seeing some students wearing the wrong socks and hair accessories as well as some students choosing to wear jewellery that does not abide by the uniform policy.
UOI
The recent How We Organise Ourselves task of making a game had many of the students inspired. As a result, many of the games created and produced are wonderful and demonstrate a good understanding of government system content.
This week we are moving into the world of How We Express Ourselves and in particular how different cultures express themselves. This unit incorporates the Street Food Night as well as work carried out in LOTE and Music.
Street Food Night
Still to come this term is the ‘Street Food’ Evening where we will culminate and celebrate the learning program linked with the Kitchen/ Garden experiences.
Please mark your calendar for the evening of Thursday June 29 where stalls will be set up around Warrinthi area and students will showcase their country of choice through food and cultural presentations.
Each student will be able to invite 2 guests. (This number is due to catering and size of the area available.) The evening will begin at 6pm. (More details will be explained closer to the date.)
