Now the general information for the school…

COVID Requirements
  • We continue to ask that Parents / Caregivers are not on site any more than is necessary
  • Access to classrooms and other school buildings will remain limited to staff, students and essential services 
  • Parents/caregivers when entering the school will need to wear a face mask and check in via the QR code or complete the hard copy sign-in sheet in the office
  • It remains essential that staff, students and others do not come on the school site if they are unwell and that they get tested for COVID-19
  • Parents are asked to pass on these school COVID requirements to other family members and friends who may be collecting your child
 
National Book Week – this week 21 to 27 Aug
  • The theme is “Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds”
  • Dress up day is Friday 27 Aug - students are encouraged to come dressed up in a costume based on the theme or as a favourite book character (please wear appropriate enclosed footwear) 
  • On Tues 24 & Thurs 26 Aug the Marine Discovery Centre will be visiting Immanuel and providing some interactive learning stations for all classes.  Thanks P&F for funding this.  
 
Student Learning Conferences
  • Thank you to parents who booked times and spoke to class teachers last week  
  • The last appt night is this Wednesday 25 August between 3:45pm to 6:00pm
  • We hope you have found these conferences as a helpful tool to see the progress of your child’s learning
 
School Uniform Policy Update 
The following changes have been passed by the School Council Committee:
Boys Formal Winter Uniform 
  • Grey trousers or grey shorts can we worn, however boys wearing formal shorts need to wear the green woolen jumper as well
Extension of Sports Uniform from Fn to Year 3 students 
  • From 2022 all students in F, 1 & 2 will wear the sports uniform 
(ie the formal girls & boys uniform items will not be worn by year 2 students)
  • From 2023 all students in F, 1, 2 & 3 will wear the sports uniform  
(ie the formal girls & boys uniform items will not be worn by year 2 or year 3 students)
The rationale behind this is that the junior primary students need the flexibility that the sports uniform brings, and the upper primary students will benefit from have the contextual variation of formal and sport uniform for various events and formal functions
 
Student Free Day  - Friday 3 Sept
This means there is no school for students, however iGOSH will be available
 
Colour Explosion School Fun Run  
  • The fun run will be held Friday 17 September at 2.10pm
  • Students are to wear their sports uniform and ideally wear a white t-shirt during the fun run 
  • Fundraising for this event can start now via www.plantadifference.com.au

Sports Day
  • Friday 24 September (last day of term 3)
  • Venue:  Gawler Sports and Community Centre 
  • Parents / caregivers can attend, however there will be a capacity limit, so a booking system will be used to best manage this 
  • A letter with further information and the booking system will be sent home later this week.  Please respond promptly 
 
Circle Time
  • This week’s theme is “We can have mixed feelings”

iGOSH
Student Free Day on Friday 3 Sept – iGOSH is open 7am to 6pm
  • Bookings are open online at carebookings.com.au  and close Friday 27 August at 2pm
  • Confirmation letters will come home Mon 30 Aug
  • Cost of the day is $60 (CCS applied)
September / October Vac Care  (Mon 27 Oct to Fri  8 Oct) 
  • The program will be out this Wednesday afternoon. Bookings will open online Thursday 26 August at 10am.
  • Accounts from last Vac care need to be paid and accounts need to be under $500 to use the service for the holiday period
  • Account reminders will be sent out Wednesday, your prompt payment is appreciated
Casual / Emergency Bookings
  • It is essential that you either ring, text or email Katrina when needing to book your child(ren) in. Please do not just turn up with them, especially in the mornings. We staff according to numbers of children and have staff / child ratios we must adhere to. Your help with this is appreciated
Christmas 2021 Closure
  • iGOSH will be open Thurs 9 Dec to Thurs 23 Dec 2021
  • Closed from 24 Dec to 9 Jan 2022
  • Open Mon 10 Jan Jan through to start of school
 
Worship and Praise 
  • Due to COVID-19 restrictions W&P will be for students only.  This week Mrs Darby will lead us

Graduation is a week and a half away, so I pose this question to you… what type of graduation parent do you think you’ll be this year? Monday Memos Week 9 Term 4

Here we are, a couple days left. It would be interesting to know how all the students are feeling. I do know that some can’t wait to move on and some don’t want to leave. As always, many are probably feeling a little bit from column A and column B.  Reports Reports to go out tomorrow.  Pizza Lunch Tomorrow Tomorrow, as a gift to the students, Tayla and I have organised a pizza lunch for students. We hope they enjoy! Graduation Evening Please see your invite for the details of time. The evening will commence with the graduation ceremony and will lead into an evening of enjoying each other’s company one last time as a group.  So that things run smoothly, we ask that you arrive on time. Creeping closer and closer to the end of the year, but the work doesn’t stop…  Academics   The big ticket item in class right now is responding to the Ted Hughes novel The Iron Man. The Playberry literacy routines will continue through to the end of the year and in maths we are currently playing around with algebra and problem solving.  End of Year Guff As a part of the student graduation, we are after a photo of each child from when they commenced school (Foundation). If your child commenced at a different school, we would love it if you could email us a digital copy so we can add it to the presentation.  For the graduation evening, it is expected that students are wearing formal summer uniform.
