Mother’s Day

We hope all our mums, grandmas and special people were treated to a lovely Mother’s day yesterday.

Principals Review Survey - From the School Board:

  • Thank you to our Parents, Staff and School Members who responded to the recent Principals Review Survey. There was an outstanding number of responses which overwhelming confirmed that our school community is blessed to have Daryl as our Principal. This review gives Daryl the opportunity to reflect on personal growth for himself as well as the school body over the last few years and in leading the school forward.

As a school board, we thank Daryl and all the Staff for their work and leadership they provide, especially though these changing and uncertain times.          Brenton Lange - GLS Chairperson.

P&F Meeting

  • Next meeting is tonight Monday 9 May at 7pm @ Immanuel School.  New members/parents welcome to attend too.  A great way to help support our school community to deliver experiences for students and their families.

NAPLAN Testing

  • Naplan testing for year 3 and 5 students commences Tuesday 10 May through to Friday 20 May.
  • Testing will take place in the mornings so it will be important for students to be at school on time to minimise disruption and allow them time to settle before commencing tests.
  • Testing will take place online so it will be important for students in Year 5 to bring their iPads to school fully charged.

Scholastic Book Club

·         Orders for catalogue issue 3 are due Friday 13 May

PEACEFUL KIDS program

  • Sadly Andrea White (Peaceful Kids Coordinator) is unwell, so the program at Immanuel this term will be postponed until Term 3 for those students / families who registered.

Parent Volunteers -  Valuing Safe Communities’ (VSC) training

  • Wednesday 18 May 2022 at 2.30pm or at 6.30pm with Daryl Trigg.
    (Please RSVP by emailing jennyj@ilsg.sa.edu.au)
  • We really appreciate parents and caregivers helping at Immanuel, however people who volunteer in a school need to have their VSC updated every 3 years.

A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is also a requirement, and can be obtained by contacting Jenny in the office. There is no charge if you are volunteering in a school.  This check needs updating every 5 years.

More info can be found at https://screening.sa.gov.au/

  • Any person volunteering in a school also needs to be double vaccinated.
  • If you will have an interest to attend an excursion, camp or help in the SAKGP (garden, kitchen), as an Immanuel Sports Team Coach or in a classroom this year, please ensure you have the above paperwork in place.

Photo Shoot

  • On Thursday 19 May Pete the photographer will be onsite to take some photos of our school facilities and students.  We will then use these images to update our advertising on our website and in our prospectus.  We will follow our data base of student photo consent (we have a few listed who cannot).  However if you do not consent for this occasion, please emailjennyj@ilsg.sa.edu.au

Road Safety Week 15-22 May and Walk Safely to School Day

  • Next week we will focus on Road Safety and how to be a safe and healthy pedestrian.
  • On Friday 20 May we invite the school community to participate in the National Walk Safely to School Day.
  • There will be 3 locations to start your walk to school from (Clonlea Park, Dead Mans Pass and Tikka Talian Restaurant).  Upon arrival at school we will plan a cooked breakfast of pancakes for students and egg & bacon sandwich for adults.   A flyer with more details and how to register will be sent home later this week.  Stay tuned.

Covid regulations and requirements in schools for the start of this term are very similar to the end of last term.  Families are requested to:

  • Not enter classrooms
  • Wear a mask when on site
  • Inform us should your child/children test positive
  • Not come on site if symptomatic
  • Masks are strongly recommended for students in Years 3 to 6

Please refer to https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/public+content/sa+health+internet/conditions/infectious+diseases/covid-19/covid-19

Absentees

  • If your child is absent from school please remember to ring the school office on the absentee line 85225740 Option 2 (before 9.30am) or email your teacher or an office staff member with some details.

Uniform Term 2

  • Winter formal (for students in Yr 3 to 6) is to be worn this term.  Foundation to year 2 students only wear the Sports Uniform.   There is a 2 week changeover period from summer to winter uniform depending on the weather, so by week 3 all applicable students will need to wear the winter uniform.  Click here to read our school uniform policy
  • Shoes on formal uniform days should be a black shoe which is able to ‘take a shine’ and be a ‘leather look’.
  • Boys can wear grey shorts instead of trousers – providing they have the long sleeve shirt and jumper on as well.  It is not part of uniform policy but we acknowledge that shorts are a better option for some boys.   A note to the teacher at the start of term advising us that the student will be wearing shorts is requested.
  • If you need to purchase new winter uniform items, please see the office staff.
  • Secondhand Uniform stall is run by volunteers Lisa and Courtney and is open Monday mornings 8.40-9.15am and Tuesday afternoons 3.15-3.45pm

Carparking

  • Please note that from this term the Tennis Courts will not be opened up at the end of the day for carparking.

  • If you need to use the toilet facilities whilst on school site, please use the admin building toilets not the student toilets.   Thanks
