Monday Memos Week 4 Term 3
Welcome back to another week. This week sees us looking into Energy through the How the World Works Transdisciplinary theme. We will be exploring energy in nature and the concept of harnessing. Here is some gear you may wish to know
The Wednesday Special Session
This Wednesday we have been able to organise a classroom wellbeing session titled Managing Emotions. It will be brought to us by Kids Helpline.
The Learning intentions for students are as follows:
- Learn emotional self-regulation skills
- Learn "brain-basics" (psycho-education)
- Improve mental health literacy and wellbeing
- Know how to manage challenging emotions including sadness, anxiety and anger
Spelling - List 22
Group 1: ‘ui’ and ‘u’ for the ‘i’ sound (busybody, cuisine)
Group 2: ‘o’ for the ‘oa’ sound (anchovy, cocoa)
Gratitude
As a part of wellbeing and Circle Time sessions this term, we are looking at gratitude and filling a gratitude jar with things that we are thankful for. Thank you to everyone who was able to bring in some jars.
Whole School Updates
This week is “Science Week” and the theme is “Glass, more than meets the eye”
There will lots of fun experiments and activities happening in classrooms this week.
Valuing Safe Communities (VSC) Volunteer Training

Learning Conferences
· An opportunity for parents (and students) to meet and talk with classroom teachers.
· The booking system is now closed. If you haven’t yet booked please contact the school office or email your teacher to schedule a time.
· Please arrive promptly for your appointment. If attending face to face please wear a face mask. If you have chosen to meet via ZOOM the class teacher will email you the link Tuesday morning.
· Our Specialist Teachers will be cooking a sausage sizzle in the school courtyard while Learning Conferences are taking place and would love to see you and have a chat.
Learning Conference dates / times are:
· Tuesday 16 August 3:45pm to 7:30pm
· Thursday 18 August 3.45pm to 6.00pm
· Wednesday 24 August 3:45pm to 7:30pm
School Photo Day Wednesday 31 August
· Individually named student envelopes were sent home last week.
· All envelopes must be returned by Friday 26 August even if you are not placing an order
· Online credit card payments are preferred or correct money enclosed in the envelope (no change provided via school office)
· Students can collect a Family Group Photo envelope from the office
· Students (in Yr 3-6) will need to wear their full formal uniform (with green jumper), whilst F-2 students will wear sports uniform (with Rugby Jumper)
· Photographers will start at 9am
iGOSH
Vacation Care
- Thanks for your feedback over the last few weeks. This greatly helps with our future planning for igosh.
Term 3
- Bookings can be made for the term via www.carebookings.com.au
- A reminder that bookings are printed off at 2pm each Friday for the week ahead. So, any bookings made after 2pm need to be emailed, texted or phoned to Katrina. All bookings before Friday 2pm are charged at the permanent rate and those after the Friday 2pm are at the casual rate.
- There is a pupil free day on Friday 9 September. iGOSH is open and will have a program for the day. More information will come out in week 5 and bookings will then be able to be made on carebookings.
- iGOSH Christmas Closure Dates: Friday 23rd December to 6th January.
- iGOSH is on the look out for dress ups. If you have any that you would like to get rid of, we would love to have them.
ICAS Testing 2022
· This week English tests will be held.
Circle Time
· This week’s theme is “Choose your own Adventure”.
Immanuel Insights Competition
· “Design your Own Pizza” winner is Anabelle W in 5T
· Her Pizza design was a delicious dessert pizza – Chocolate , Mars bars, Marshmallows (roasted), Chocolate sauce and Strawberries.
· Anabelle wins a Subway voucher and drink bottle.
Uniform Term 3
· Green Winter Jackets have now arrived. Please see office staff for purchases or email sallyf@ilsg.sa.edu.au. Trackpants - all sizes are back in stock. Our uniform policy states that students must wear the official uniform items which are to be purchased via school. So if your child is wearing other styled trackpants please contact the office staff to purchase new trackpants or any other items.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
· This challenge continues this term and closes on 9 September. Students have to read 12 books (including 4 from the PRC list).
· Students in Years F-3 do this in their classes, Students in Yr 4-6 can do this at home.
Covid Update
Covid regulations and requirements in schools for the start of this term have been updated slightly.
Families are requested to:
- Not enter classrooms
- Inform us should your child/children test positive
- Inform us should your child/children be a close contact and RAT test as per SA Health guidelines
- Not come on site if symptomatic
· Testing requirements for classroom outbreaks have changed. Should a classroom outbreak occur (that is five or more cases in a single class/room in a seven-day period), asymptomatic staff and students should use a rapid antigen test (RAT), and symptomatic staff and students should undertake PCR testing.
Face Masks
· Face masks in education and care settings are strongly recommended (but not required).
· Anyone who is a close contact and is aged 12 years and older will need to wear a face mask when they leave the house for seven days following exposure in line with the SA Health close contact guidelines.
