Monday Memos Week 5 Term 3
It has been wonderful to catch up with so many of you over the past couple of weeks. The learning conferences continue this week and if anyone has missed the chance, let us know so that we can schedule a suitable meeting time.
Student Inquiry this week is investigating ways to harness energy for human pursuits and students will carry out an audit of electrical appliances in the home.
Spelling - List 23
Group 1: gh, gue for the g sound (ghastly, fatigue)
Group 2 : -o, -os, -oes. (Mosquito, tomatoes, pianos)
Whole School Updates
Students arriving early
- A reminder that any student who is on-site before 8.30am and not in iGOSH needs to sit on the seats outside of the admin kitchen (old staff room). This is a duty of care matter and ideally students will not be on site prior to 8.30am as we do not ‘staff’ the playground.
Phones
- No student should be using their personal phone before or after school while on school grounds unless they have sought permission to do so from a staff member. Any student who brings a phone to school must ‘hand it in’ to their teacher at the start of the day, following the process put in place by that class.
Absentees
- We ask that all absentees be reported via the Absentee Phone Line: 85225740Option 2.
- Messages and emails can be missed if the staff member you contact is also absent that day
Arriving late / Leaving early
- Please ensure students sign in at the front office if arriving after 8.50am
- If collecting early parents/caregivers are to report to the office first and the student will be called from their classroom. A note to the teacher in the morning or a phone call to the office prior are welcome, however the messages can be delayed if other priorities come along.

iGOSH
Term 3
- Bookings can be made for the term via www.carebookings.com.au
- A reminder that bookings are printed off at 2pm each Friday for the week ahead. So, any bookings made after 2pm need to be emailed, texted or phoned to Katrina. All bookings before Friday 2pm are charged at the permanent rate and those after the Friday 2pm are at the casual rate.
- We are staffed based on the children who are booked in. So if children “just turn up” this affects our child:staff ratio. It is important that you book your child(ren) in, as there may be times that we won’t be able to take them for either a morning or afternoon session
Opening Hours Reminder:
- Our service opens at 7am. We cannot take children before this time. If you are here earlier than 7am, we ask you to please wait until it is 7am, the doors are open and staff have set up.
Pupil Free Day
- Friday 9th September is a Pupil Free Day. We are heading to Salisbury Cinemas to watch a movie.
Bookings are now open online at www.carebookings.com and will close Friday 2 September 2pm.
Feedback Questions
- Over the next few weeks there will be other questions each week that relate to various topics that we would like some feedback on.
- It would be very much appreciated if you could answer these each week.
- They are on the front desk at iGOSH and require a tick in the box for your answer to the 2 questions
iGOSH Christmas Closure Dates
Friday 23 December 2022 to Friday 6 January 2023
ICAS Testing
This week Science and Spelling Bee tests will be held.
Circle Time
This week’s theme is “honesty”.
Covid Update
Covid regulations and requirements in schools for the start of this term have been updated slightly.
Families are requested to:
- Not enter classrooms
- Inform us should your child/children test positive
- Inform us should your child/children be a close contact and RAT test as per SA Health guidelines
- Not come on site if symptomatic
Testing requirements for classroom outbreaks have changed. Should a classroom outbreak occur (that is five or more cases in a single class/room in a seven-day period), asymptomatic staff and students should use a rapid antigen test (RAT), and symptomatic staff and students should undertake PCR testing.
Face Masks
- Face masks in education and care settings are strongly recommended (but not required).
- Anyone who is a close contact and is aged 12 years and older will need to wear a face mask when they leave the house for seven days following exposure in line with the SA Health close contact guidelines.
