Monday Memos Week 9 Term 1

Welcome to Week 9 of Term 1. Where has the term gone?

Homework

Spelling will look a bit different over the next couple of weeks. Students will still be asked to complete the syllables, phonemes and language translation, however students may choose 5 words to write into sentences and find the meaning of the other 5 words. 

Morphology is not expected to be done at home.

Mathletics - 1000 points is expected.

Reading- 20 minutes of your own choice 

Canberra Cooking Consortium
Too keep the costs down for Canberra we will be cooking Lasagna and Anzac Biscuits on Sunday April 16 1-5pm.

Term 1 Week 9 Whole School Update…

 

Year 3 Camp 

  • Mrs Rollings / Tilbrook Year 3 class heads off on camp this Thursday returning Friday.  We wish them a good time.  

 

Cyber Safety Solutions – Parent information evening 

  • Wednesday 12 April 7pm to 8.30pm
  • Helping our kids stay out of “High Tech Trouble” with presenter Susan McLean who is an expert in the field. 
  • A parent only information evening not to be missed!   Families and friends are welcome to attend too.    No bookings needed, just attend if you can.

STARplex After-School Sports Programs

Basketball and Netball 

  • Basketball Winter Season is Term 2 & Term 3 played on a Monday or Tuesday at Starplex
  • Netball Winter Season is Term 2 and Term 3 played on a Wednesday at Starplex  
  • Students from Foundation to year 6 welcome to join a team  
  • Cost for either sport is $140 participation fee for the 2x term season (approx 16-18 games)

  • Gawler Lutheran Church volunteers are offering “Coffee B4 Worship & Praise”from 9.45am in Taikondi
  • We welcome any school parents, kindy parents and friends to join us for this prior to the Worship & Praise

Absentees / Running Late / Picking up Early 

·         If your child is absent, please send through the details via the new Operoo Form at this link https://groups.operoo.com/forms/962985/submissions/new.  Alternatively you can telephone the school absent line 85225740 (Option 2) by 9.30am.   Please do not email the class teacher or admin staff (as they maybe absent too).   

 

iGOSH

April Holiday Vac Care

  • Click here to view the 2 week holiday program.  Bookings can be made up until next Monday 3 April at 11am.      
  • Book via https://www.carebookings.com.au/login.  Use KTQQ3 as the login.   
  • Some days are capped so get in quick….
  • Confirmation of bookings will be emailed to you via carebookings.  If you receive this email, then your bookings are confirmed. Therefore please ensure your email in carebookings is correct.
  • Confirmation and Consent forms will be on Operoo.  There is a general e-form to answer yes or no to if you are using vac care.

If you select yes, then this will take you to the consent form that needs to be completed.  The consent eform needs to submitted before Wednesday 12 April

  • Account reminders were sent out last week.   IGOSH Accounts need to be below $500 (by 5/4/23) and last vac care paid for to use the holiday service

Term 1 Bookings

  • Bookings close 2pm each Friday for the week ahead.
  • Any bookings needed after this need to be emailed / text / phone call to Katrina. Please don’t make the bookings for the week of via carebookings as we won’t have them in our booking folder, which we download and print at 2pm each Friday.

Term 2 Bookings

  • Are now open via carebookings.  Term 2 is a 9 week term, followed by 3 weeks school holidays in July.   

‘No Booking’ Fee

  • As from Term 2 a $10 fee will be charged on top of the normal session fees for children who arrive at iGOSH with No Booking.. This fee will not be covered by CCS.  We roster our staffing based around our booking numbers so that we are working with the correct educator to child ratio. It is important that we abide by these so please make sure you either ring or text the igosh mobile 0447661555or email katrinap@ilsg.sa.edu.au for additional bookings.   

Homework

  • Homework time is offered 3.45 to 4.15pm and supervised by iGOSH staff each afternoon. If you would like your child to be reminded and encouraged to do their homework during this time, please record their name and days required on the list at the iGOSH front desk. Please have the conversations at home if you would like your children to do homework while at iGOSH.

Donations

iGOSH is after the following items: 

  • Scrap material
  • Boxes, no larger than cereal size
  • Bottle lids (April Vac Care Day we have planned is using these to create recycled art)

Please drop them off if you are able to donate them, it will be greatly appreciated

Winter Uniform Term 2

  • Just a reminder that Winter Uniform is required to be worn in term 2.  This refers to the Winter formal uniform (boys trousers with long sleeve shirt / girls winter pinafore, skirt or skort with white long sleeve blouse).  There is a 2 week changeover in case the weather is still warm in the first 2 weeks.
  • New Uniform purchases can be made via the staff in the front office.  Bookings may be needed if the office is busy.   
  • The Secondhand Uniform Stall is open on a Friday afternoon 3pm to 3.30pm.  We are seeking another volunteer to open the stall on another day too.  Please let the office know if you can help.   

 

Peaceful Kids Program in Term 2 at Immanuel Gawler

  • During Term 1 we have had several children participate in Andrea White's Peaceful Kids Program. 
  • She is now taking registrations of interest to run the program again in Term 2 and places are almost full.

“Dental for Schools” - at Immanuel School in Term 2 

  • Dental for Schools will be visiting Immanuel next term - Term 2, Week 9 - Weds 28Thurs 29 & Fri 30 June.  
  • In week 1 next term Dental for Schools coordinators will hold an Oral Health Education workshop for every year level.  
  • Following this an information package will be sent home to parents and if you would like your child to be seen by the dentist, you can complete the consent form and return it to the school to book an appointment time.    
  • Immanuel is excited to offer this new facility for students and families.  If you had intended to book dentist appointments for your child over the holidays this may be an alternative opportunity.   Please stay tuned for more information in early term 2.
